If one more person tells me what a lovely smile I have, I am likely to smack them.
When you are “FAT”, and someone says that to you, it is a polite put down. It is saying, well as much as I would like to tell you how terrible you look in that dress, it is much kinder to just say “ you have such a lovely smile”.
It is like a secret that everyone knows including you, but nobody says a word. It has just become another F word that you don’t say if you are polite.
I want out, and I want out now! I have tried walking two kilometres a day and while that felt excellent, getting the air into my lungs, and being so energetic, I did not lose all that much weight unless I stopped eating. Simply because burning calories is not an easy thing to do once the damage is done.
It is easier to ensure that your calorie consumption is less, than to keep track of the calories you burn on a daily basis if you really want to shed the kilos. Easier said than done obviously. My friend recommended talking to a nutritionist or a dietician as they are also known as. I always thought dietitians were meant for people with health problems like diabetes or heart trouble, who require careful monitoring of their diet, but apparently people who are obese are also prone to these diseases. So, not only does dieting help you lose the weight but it also take care of any predisposition to these problems.
I am simply waiting to hear someone say “ Wow! You look great” and it is not that hard. So, I started daily consultations with a dietician over the phone. She charges me per session and if I have a quick question then I just call her and pay by the minute. She helps plan out my daily meals and also keeps track of my progress.
A good balance of dals, vegetables and lean meats really works well, while cutting back drastically on the carbohydrates but even the peas and corn I eat contain carbs, and I never knew that.
It works beautifully, because I can schedule even at really weird times, especially when I feel this crazy urge to have a snack, that I look for her online and give my dietician a call. The dietician has become my go to person the moment I feel the urge to eat something I shouldn’t. She monitors what I eat, and when I eat it, and I just watch the kilos shed away.
The next time you tell me I have a lovely smile, be sure to notice my lovely figure too and tell me how “FAB” I look 🙂
