Integrative medicine is a form of treatment, or rather, a 'school' of medicine that aims to focus on what integrative medicine doctors refer to as the “whole person”. This includes the physical side, but also the mind and spirit.
At first glance this may appear to just be a combination of accepted medical procedures and practices, alongside more alternative therapies.
But one of the key features of integrative medicine is it's emphasis on the 'patient-physician' relationship. Integrative medicine doctors, and proponents of integrative health argue that the relationship between patient and physician leads to a more open-minded approach to well-being and health, and it is this focus on healthiness over reactive treatment that means more alternative and sometimes derided forms of treatment are considered.
It is argued that this gives integrative care an ability to care for both easily-treated symptoms, using accepted forms of treatment such as drugs and surgery, but also the ability to tackle conditions that 'accepted' medical procedures cannot treat, such as irritable bowel syndrome, fibromyalgia, clinical depression, anxiety, chronic migraines, psychological issues.
There are many forms of integrated care, so thorough research into the best integrative medicine doctors in India should be undertaken to find the most suitable to your particular requirements.
Yoga, acupuncture, massage therapy, holistic psychotherapy, reiki therapy, chiropractic services and Chinese herbal therapy are just some of the alternatives practiced by integrative medicine doctors, used alongside more mainstream clinical treatments to achieve the best possible care for the patient.
