Ms. Surbhi Bhalla is a Research Associate (Nutrition) currently working in the Transform Nutrition Research Consortium, she is contributing to the capacity building activities in the area of public health nutrition. She is also a part of the editorial team of India Health Report on Nutrition – a biannual report that will provide a periodic assessment of health in India. For the past few years she has worked at HRIDAY SHAN, which is a voluntary organisation of health professionals and social scientists, engaged in activities aiming to promote health awareness and informed health activism among school and college students in India. She has actively contributed to projects like Indo-Us Diabetes coalition, Healthy India Campaign, Get Active and conducted teacher training programs, and facilitated in peer education programs for youth from all over India, especially Delhi.Surbhi was selected as one of the 25 best young scientist in India and also a paper presenter by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in 2009. She has been conferred with a Gold Medal in her B.Sc. degree, from University of Delhi in the year 2006.She has been awarded The Smt. Parmila Bai Rao Memorial Prize and G.D. Jain Memorial Prize, for academic excellence in the field of Home Science - University of Delhi in 2006. She has been awarded the best student teacher award at Lady Irwin College in 2011.Surbhi has been a Grassroutes fellow in 2010, where she worked in the area of Public Health Nutrition in the Room to Read project(Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation) and TATA Trust funded project, in the rural area of Satoli Village, District Nainital, Uttrakhand India. She has also been active on various youth health TV shows and as a nutrition expert on radio shows in Delhi.
